All Your Creeps
Well well well, what do we have here, why it’s another tower defence game, but before you hit the back button thinking there is nothing left to offer on this well beaten path, All Your Creeps approaches the genre with a few original ideas.
With an appropriate amount of backwards E’s and R’s and a marching soundtrack to give it a suitably Russian feel, All Your Creeps is all about you commanding your Comrades to protect their beloved rocket from the never ending swarms of the Swine.
With your rocket sitting defenceless in the middle of the screen your task as the Comrades is to protect it at any cost. The action itself is very fast and frenzied and reminds me of those moments in Command and Conquer where you send everything you have to take out the base with hundreds of Swine charging the rocket, rarely letting up. At your disposal is a selection of defences, from Walls to slow down the constant wave of piggy’s, Repel towers to temporarily push them back and Rockets and Lasers to turn the Swine into bacon. The selection and tower placement controls are dead simple, with trigger buttons changing your desired tower and a quick moving cursor to drop them. You can mix up your towers and place them in close proximity to your rocket and with a constantly charging tower allowance it gets very busy with you placing towers all over the place.
All Your Creeps breaks from the tower defence mould by also allowing you to play as the enemy Swine. This time you can send troops from either side of the screen, utilising the different units like the heavy Boars, fast moving Spy’s and cannon fodder Grunts to your advantage, unleashing hordes every time you charge up until the rocket is overrun.
There are two game modes available, a five minute countdown and an endless mode, with each one offering an intense but short lived burst of fun in single-player, but grab some other gamers for co-op or versus four player and this game is so much the better, with your pals trying to get one over on you as they send squadrons of jetpigs to destroy your rocket.
Being a refreshing take on the tower defence genre it’s one I would love to see more of in the future, maybe on a tablet with more online functions like multiplayer or a leaderboard. All Your Creeps can be found on the Xbox Live Indie Games catalogue with a very competitive price point making it worth your time, especially if you have pals to play with.
