Sick Kids Save Point
Tom Freeman contacted SquareGo to tell us about the Sick Kids Save Point a 24 hour game-a-thon between 6th and 8th August 2010, to support Edinburgh’s own Royal Hospital for Sick Children fondly called “the Sick Kids”, who do invaluable work across the Lothian Region and further afield.
Getting the idea from the Extra Life events which have run in the United States since 2008 raising money and awareness about Texas child hospitals and child health care both locally and across the world, Tom hopes the Sick Kids Save Point will become an established and growing event over the coming years.
Having worked in the Sick Kids Tom told SquareGo, “I was really moved by the bravery of the kids and by the tireless dedication of the staff there. I also only recently became a father and although my daughter hasn’t needed to attend, you become aware of the vitality of a children’s hospital in a community.”
With sponsorship of participating gamers growing and opportunities to take part the Sick Kids Save Point is a worthwhile cause to support and with a healthy donation provided by Rockstar North as well as Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto related goodie bags and Codemasters also providing prizes, for anyone who raises over a certain level of sponsorship. Tom hopes to raise as much as possible for the hospital to support the excellent work they do.
Participants are taking part across Scotland, from their own homes or in groups, to raise the funds and Tom hopes to gain sponsorship from around the world and that those who have already become regular sponsors of ExtraLife will consider donating to the cause too.
SquareGo happily supports an event based in their home city and you can find more details about the event at their Blogspot, on Facebook and Twitter.
If anyone wants to take part, setting up a fundraising page is easy; VGEvo has a team fundraising page here, so you could always point your sponsors there as well.
